WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF LIFE?
"Why did God make you?"
"God made you to know him, to love him, and
to serve him in this world and to be happy with him forever in the
next."
Here, in just 26 words, is the whole reason for our existence. Jesus
answered the question even more briefly: "I came so that ”you
might have life and have it more abundantly" (John 10:10).
God's plan for you is
simple. Your loving Father wants to give you all good things especially
eternal
life. Jesus died on the cross to save us all from sin and the eternal
separation from God that sin causes. When he saves us, he makes
us part of his Body, (1Cor 12) which is the Church (all Orthodox Christian Churches included) (1 Cor. 12:27-30). We thus become united with him and
with Christians everywhere (on earth, and in heaven)
Weather we are aware of it
or not, our lives were created to find our creator. Simply put,
God
is the purpose of our lives. While you search for a love that will last
forever, our God who loves you is also searching for you. He will
never give up on you or me. In a complicated world it is
refreshing
to know that God is not a demanding God, nor a condemning God.
All
God wants is time with you and I. To let you know that He loves you as
you
are now, and will love you as you will be tomorrow. When we spend time
with
God our hearts can be transformed. What we think are rules to
live
by, mostly the world's rules, to advance ourselves in one way or
another,
all melt down when we enter into a simple relationship with our creator
who loves us. God shows us the world's alternative when it comes
to loving and interrelating with each other. . God gives us the
gift of love all
wrapped up and ready to be opened. Like a child who wakes on Christmas
morning and runs down the hall to see what's under the Christmas tree.
God does not want us to think we need to run out and earn this
gift.
He wants us to have this gift with absolutely no conditions attached
accept
to acknowledge his Love for us by looking towards His Son Jesus. .
So that we can allow ourselves be loved by Him. So that Gods love
can then be poured out to others through us. Thus changing our lives
and
making them better in good times as well as in times of
suffering.
So in essence God created us because it
pleased Him to do so. (Revelation 4:11) Paul says: Thou art
worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast
created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
the Apostle Paul also
wrote in in Colossians 1:16:
For by Him were all things created that are
in
heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether they be
thrones
or dominions or principalities or powers: all things were created by
Him
and for Him.
If we can come to the understanding that God created us because it
pleased Him to do so, than the questions becomes,... what am I to do in
return?
God wants you to live in His love. He
wants you to get to know Him better so you can live your life
more abundantly. Only God can fill the void in you and me. When
you come to God, relationships in your life become the focal
point. All those things you lived for, ...other than for others just
don't seem to be as important as they used to be. Like a prisoner
enslaved by the worlds desires your soul is set free to appreciate the
simpler things in life. When you step off the
world's carrousel into Gods hands you can find yourself with more
wealth
than you ever could have imagined. This wealth is not dictated by
what
you have, or what you do, or where you go. Nobody can steal it from you
and
it will never go bad. The World can never give you what God can
give.
What can you do with this wealth? You Love each other as God
loves
you and I.

"Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in
heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and
my burden is light."
